Regular Stutter on Linux With NVIDIA Graphics Cards

OpenReported October 14, 2026

Some players on Linux with an NVIDIA graphics card notice the game stutter for an instant, at a steady rhythm, every few seconds. It is easiest to see while walking.

Who Is Affected

Players on Linux with an NVIDIA graphics card, playing in Google Chrome. The faster your display refreshes, the more often it happens: about every four seconds on a 60 Hz display, and about every second and a half on a 180 Hz display.

Workaround

There is no complete workaround yet. Setting your display to a lower refresh rate makes the stutter less frequent, though it does not stop it.

Status

This is a bug in the NVIDIA graphics driver. We've reported it to NVIDIA, and also to Google, as it's possible Chrome could avoid it in the meantime. We will keep this page updated with any future developments.
