Fortitude

Fortitude raises maximum health for the Chevalier while toggled on. On a fresh character that is a substantial share more life, for no mana.

Effect

Where Iron Skin reduces the size of each hit you take, Fortitude raises the number of hits you can survive. It is the more reliable of the two against burst damage, because it does not depend on the damage type or on armor's diminishing value against large blows.

Toggling

Prayers switch on instantly and lock out briefly after being switched off, a flat window that nothing shortens.

Strategy

• Against the orbs a Goblin Warlock throws, the extra health is worth a few more hits before you fall.
• Prefer it over Iron Skin on the open ground of Glutton's Farmstead, where the hits that reach you are ranged and heavy.
• It is the safest prayer to run while pushing into a level range above your own.
• Health lost stays lost; the bonus is a larger ceiling, not a heal.
