The Cottage

The Cottage is an interior location accessible from the western side of Glutton's Farmstead. Once a humble dwelling, it has been taken over by the Broodwitch, the matriarch of the goblins, who waits inside for any adventurer who enters.

Overview

The Cottage is a single room, with furniture and decorations that hint at its former life as a home. The furniture keeps to the walls, leaving an open floor of worn brick between the hearth and the door, and that floor is where the fight is won or lost.

The Ambush

Upon entering the Cottage, players will immediately face the Broodwitch. She stands inside the room and begins attacking as soon as the player enters: clouds of poison at anyone across the room, and jabs of her wand at anyone who closes in.

The Portal

The Broodwitch is guarding a way out. When she falls, a portal tears open beside the desk where she keeps her spellbook, and it leads to the Gravesands. The portal stays open for as long as you remain in the Cottage, but every time you come back in, the Broodwitch is back too and the portal is sealed until she falls again.

Connections

• Glutton's Farmstead: The cottage door leads back outside to the western area of the farm.
• The Gravesands: The portal that opens when the Broodwitch falls leads to the western end of the Gravesands.

Strategy

• Prepare before entering. Make sure your health is full and you have gear equipped.
• Keep moving across the open floor: she aims each cloud of poison at where you stood as she began to throw it.
• Decide your distance before you go in: press her and take the wand, or hang back and dodge the clouds, but do not linger in between.
• Heroic Strike is a heavy blow, and the Broodwitch is what to spend it on.
• Consider visiting the Merchant for better equipment before attempting the Cottage.
• The Cottage is the way onward: the portal to the Gravesands opens only once the Broodwitch is dead.
