War Cry

War Cry deals no damage of its own. For as long as the roar lasts, every physical damage type the Chevalier can deal is raised: slash, smash and stab alike. It comes back only a little after it runs out, so it is very nearly permanent uptime once you learn to recast it on schedule.

Effect

The buff applies to everything, not just your basic attack. Ground Slam, Kick and Heroic Strike all land harder while it is up, which is what makes War Cry the correct opener for any fight you expect to last more than a few swings.

It stacks with the flat bonuses from Phantom Strike and Crippling Blow, so a Chevalier running a damage prayer and the roar together gets both at once.

Strategy

  • Cast it before you engage, not in the middle of the fight; the cast animation is long and you cannot attack through it.
  • The roar runs out just before it comes back, so recast the moment it is ready rather than waiting for the buff to drop.
  • It is at its best in front of a Goblin Warlock or a pack of goblins, and wasted on a lone Goblin Underling.
  • Damage buffs do nothing for survivability, so pair it with Iron Skin or Fortitude when you expect to take hits.
